Behind the Lens...
He’s
tall and handsome and very thoughtful... a little bit of a computer geek and a tiny bit melancholy and very detail oriented . (if you watch closely you might see him tear up when the groom first catches sight of his bride....)
She’s
theatrical and passionate and her favorite words are “mush” and “snuggle” and she lives for the emotion of life. if your moments ever stop grabbing her heart, she'll move on to using her camera strictly for play.
We
are husband and wife, almost two decades and five kiddos into our fairytale, in awe that every day we get to capture perfect evening light and generations and romance, kisses and giggles and whispers and teary embraces.
we're a team - the legacy is about your family, and ultimately, ours. (often one of our offspring will be our best assistant.) we believe that what we do is storytelling and legacy-leaving and it is necessary art, and it is our delight to help you create that art to pass on to the generations to come.
from experience, we know that life can be crazy, and it is precious, and every moment matters. let us help you capture yours. we can't wait to meet you... hugs! --brian and angela

what a privilege it is to follow a little boy from being just a glimmer of joy in mama’s tummy to being a bona-fide little boy of nine months already! we had so much fun going back to the site of melissa and david’s maternity session and letting baby j. experience the same spots his mom and dad love.
a first peek:
love to you, sweet baby j.
hugs! -miss angela
just a little food love. head over to our family blog for the recipe for this little bit of autumn deliciousness. trust me, it’s worth it.
hugs, and happy indulging.
there is a growing trend, initiated by an incredible artist named jesh derox, toward photography which not only captures the love between people, but actually aims to renew it, revive it, and help it grow. this has always been my heart, and it is pure joy to get to participate in a session where our clients open up and share their stories and their hearts.
nicole and brent’s one year anniversary was coming and she decided it would be awesome to celebrate with a portrait session (um, yeah!).
because of some events-that-were-out-of-anyone’s control on her wedding day (they may have involved a rebellious puppy and family members having to chase said errant pet), nicole really wanted photos with her parents. she also wanted them to have some of the two of them. (i learned in our time together that they only have a few polaroids from their wedding day…) she copied me on the adorable email she wrote the family convincing them of the need for their session, and i think it worked, because everyone came happy to partake!
i can’t express in words the joy it was to see eddie and gwen relax into decades of married commitment… and enjoy capturing their fond memories of betsy (this is the Triumph that took them on their earliest dates, and on which eddie proposed to gwen. you heard that right!)
brent was up for anything to make his bride happy. i think the session did that, but i think he’s been doing it for at least a year.
nicole had seen a cool idea on pinterest to incorporate a photo from the year before into their annual sessions… so we had to recreate the feel of the framed wedding portrait she brought!
a beloved session is an incredible way to remember what drew you together in the first place. it’s an awesome opportunity to step away from busy, and to look each other in the eye, and to capture that love you have, to pass on to the next generation.
thank you, nicole and brent, eddie and gwen, for trusting me with your hearts!
hugs! angela
the two busiest times of year for us with weddings are fall and spring. these also happen to be the busiest times of year for portraits, and sometimes, we get to having so much fun with our clients, and getting images on their walls, that we don’t always get their stories told for our blog readers! case in point with a whole slew of sessions and weddings from this last year (boy, do i sound like my grandma now)… and i’m going to try my best to get those posted!
we’ll start with tim and paige. we loved them from our first conversation, and paige’s heart for her man, and for their families, and for their place in the world and their calling to great things was evident. i loved tim’s “tech geek” side, and how gentle he is with paige. he’s a gentlemen all around, and between them, they’re a picture of grace.
paige and tim chose to do a “first sight.” if you haven’t met us yet, you may not have heard how in love we are with “first sight” moments. why? well, i’m glad you asked.
first of all, most of the time, wedding days are pretty darn busy. between hair appointments and makeup sessions, to family you don’t get to see often enough, to huge amounts of tiny details that are big to you because you’ve invested in them and want your day to be just perfect, there’s a lot for a bride (and groom) to think about.
and sometimes, that means that the person the whole day is for, gets the last of the attention. before you know it, the whole crazy-fast-and-wonderful day is over, and you realize you never looked each other in the eye. (except maybe for a second, nervously, as you said, “i do,” or sweet-and-wonderfully-quick as you spun through your first dance.)
but taking a few moments just for the two of you, right at the start of the day, to exchange a few
I love you’s”, maybe give gifts or a letter or a prayer (oh, yes, those are awesome…), puts everything back into order. it calms excited brides and settles nervous grooms and reminds you that all is right in the world. and magically, it seems to make the rest of the day so much more relaxed!
i think paige and tim would’ve been just fine either way, but man, those few moments together were amazing. and they set the tone for an awesome day!
thank you so much, tim and paige, for letting us share in your whimsical, warm, and romantic day. your details were stunning, your friends and family were wonderful, and your love is beautiful to behold.
xoxo!! -brian and angela.
kaitlin and chris had the most beautiful, whimsical wedding day, and we fell in love with their families. so much so, that we are looking forward to photographing kaitlin’s sister’s big day this fall!
imagine our excitement, then, when we found out baby finley was on the way. these two are about to become three of our favoritest people!
right in the middle of our session (and we were an hour from home, mind you…), a huge thunderstorm rolled in. no problem! kate and chris went with it, we ran through the rain, and dodged sprinkles.
i always say we can’t top God-light… and look what He gave us!!
at chris’s request, we headed up to the beach where he proposed to kaitlin, and just in time for this insane sky…
next image captured by our a-girl, who was so thankful her dad chose to carry gear for her, & let her shoot.
we love you guys (the whole bunch of your families…), and we can’t WAIT to meet your little sweet finley.
hugs! brian sr., angela, and a-girl…
