ryan and his family have been special to us for a very long time, and it was the coolest privelege to be chosen to capture his senior portraits… especially since his mom can yield a camera pretty well herself! thank you, ry, for making us laugh, and for being, well, very handsome in front of our lenses! all of you guys are so much fun, and we loved your session.
love that smile!!!
thank you, ryan, for letting us “play” a bit for some real drama in your images! you rocked it.
congratulations on your graduation, ryan. you are an awesome young man and we’re joining the ranks of your family and friends to say we’re so proud of you!
hugs! miss angela and mr. brian (do you still call us that as a young man?)
so, funniest story… i received an email from marie about photographing her family with five kiddos, and we hit it off on the spot. as we emailed back and forth, i couldn’t wait to meet her in person and as her name sounded familiar, i wanted to ask how she’d found us. when we pulled up to the house and i saw the kiddos, i practically shouted, “oh, it’s YOU!” i recognized marie and micah and their adorable kiddos, whom i’ve adored from afar at church. “wait, take of your sunglasses,” she said… “oh, it’s YOU!” all this time neither of us had realized who we were conversing with!
their session was a wild crazy rumpus full of joy and snuggles, and i loved every minute. can you believe, four adorable brothers and one perfect little SISTER!
a “beloved” moment (and thank-you to my oldest two boys who joined us and kept the kiddos running so mom and dad could enjoy a little romance)…
so much JOY…
there is a WHOLE WALL’s worth of adorableness in this series. not one of them is stiff or boring… oh, joy!
thank you, thank you, sweet family, for sharing your awesomeness.
big hugs from one five-kiddo-family to another (really cool) one… miss angela!
oh and p.s. – since these two don’t come along so often on sessions, i’m sharing their behind the scenes outtakes, because they were a vital part of the zany fun.
oh, how i love my boys…
oh, lauren. your thoughtful planning of your day, from the engagement session, to the hours (and boxes!) of collecting little touches to adorn your tables, to the amazing and super-cool vintage themed photobooth… it is impressive, and it created the most amazing little vintage retreat for your family and friends – a perfect setting for your elegant yet down-to-earth wedding.
i have always loved the use of vintage cameras in photography; this one was all the more meaningful since it’s lauren’s that she actually uses! and yes, she created her own bouquets in the moments before she walked down the aisle!
one of the coolest wedding traditions we’ve ever seen – “the warming of the rings.” the guests passed the rings hand-to-hand before the ceremony, wishing well and praying prayers of blessing over lauren and james. watching each guest’s face and the intensity with which they focused on the act was amazing – i was definitely wiping away tears as i watched lauren’s beautiful mom embrace the moment of her daughter’s marriage to an awesome man.
i think he’s happy to marry this woman.

have you ever seen a bride do a happy dance at the altar?
the light in the church was A-MAZING. i loved the sweet elegance of the handmade scarf lauren bought from an etsy seller!
a little stop at an amazing waterside spot before the reception…
james teased lauren about the boxes and boxes of collectibles that built up in his office before the wedding day
this was so cool – james and lauren used vintage playing cards for table markers!
whoopie pies and old-world fruit pies instead of cake? yes, please! mini sliders and fruit and cheeses with tupelo honey? mmmhhmmmm… vintage postcards for guests to sign and drop into an antique mailbox? brilliant!
most adorable photobooth – i loved that lauren found a vintage camera garland on etsy and paired it with this cool vintage-look sheet… brilliant!
(and ask us about our new photobooth option for weddings!!)
the reception site, among its other quirky and cool offerings, held a couple jail cells in the basement; time to play! isn’t there some cheesy 80′s sentiment here i can reference?
lauren might be the only bride to ever come have a seat and chat with us during the ring shots. loved how relaxed she was in her (second of three) j. crew dress.
and to top it off, the night wrapped up with a concert by james’ band at a local night-spot.
the day was amazing… thank you guys!

when jenalee contacted me for her session with her beautiful daughter, i knew just where we needed to go… one of our favorite parks and early morning combined with that dewy God-light captured the essence of their love for each other, jenalee’s exquisite beauty, and her precious little girl’s childhood innocence and inquisitiveness. thank you for a wonderful morning, girls! enjoy your beautiful portraits…
thank you, thank you… it was lovely meeting you!!
hugs… angela (and a-girl)…
matt and bonnie are down-to-earth somehow despite their “urban cool” vibe… their dogs and their friends and their love of being active together are hallmarks of who they are as a couple. besides the “kids” (dogs), all else was incorporated into their intimate gathering for a beach wedding at sunset, just south of the gorgeous don cesar, where bonnie dressed and captured our lenses for a couple bridal portraits…
watch how he looks at her… sigh, and we all dream of our own prince charming and his adoring gaze, meant for us alone.

can you tell it was a happy crowd?
bonnie, girl, you can do glamour with the best of them. you are beautiful!
mmm, and matt, you are pretty handsome. i think the two of you can keep up with each other quite well.
yep.
congratulations, you two! thank you so much for inviting us to be part of your day!!
…hugs! –brian and angela
