recently we posted elena and dimitri’s sweet baby-boy. i thought i’d share with you the storyboard we designed to complement the family’s gorgeous nursery decor! vasilios has a stunning baby-blue nursery with white furniture and a whimsical chandelier, so we created this piece to capture the feel of the room, and keep mommy and daddy close by. custom artwork is one of the awesome opportunities we have to create legacy-leaving impact in families’ homes… not just gracing their decor, but serving as heirlooms for future generations!

this little guy gave his family a scare. first of all, he tried to make an early entrance and made his momma go on bed rest for a looooooooong time. then when she got the doctor’s “go-ahead” to get up and around, he decided he’d hang out for a while. we squeezed in a mini-session during a rainstorm and waited and waited. well guess what? his parents head to the hospital TODAY to welcome him into the world! can’t wait to meet you, little guy. debbie and shane and you two awesome big brothers, this baby is truly blessed. as are all the people who love you and get to partake in your awesome baby-story!

having had the high privelege of capturing ashley’s beautiful sister last year, it was a privelege to be asked to document this amazing time for ashley. um, hello, beautifulness! this is why i love shooting early, early in the morning. and why i love senior portraits. time to wander, explore the area, and especially the fun of working with someone who’s creative and just as adventuresome as i am! (ceanne, you are an amazing mom and assistant, and i loved having you!)

i love redheads. can i say it again? i LOVE redheads.

when elena first contacted me, i could sense her sweet spirit even through her emails. arriving at her home only confirmed that assumption! there was such a calm and quietness when we arrived. it was such a pleasure to photograph baby-boy and capture some of his first special moments.

for those following our work, you know by now that our children are an integral part of what we do. i mean it when i say i don’t like to photograph newborns without my number one assistant anna, and after this session, i imagine the days when i’ll be assisting her. it is always our goal to spoil our clients and show love and honor when we photograph them; it was a dear treat to receive confirmation from elena when we arrived home from baby vasilios’ session, and i had to share her email with you:

“Hi Angela,

It was so nice to meet both you and your talented Anna yesterday! All of us (me, Dimitri, and my mom) are so impressed at how gentle and patient you were with our baby boy during the photo session. Thank you so much for wonderful experience!”

thank you so much, elena, dimitri, and grandma, for trusting us with what is precious to you. you have a beautiful baby and a beautiful life!

*i have to give words of thanks to elena’s doula (for those unfamiliar, a doula is a birth assistant!), for when elena shared the story of her calm and peaceful birth, she gave credit to this wonderful woman. as an advocate for natural birthing, it was awesome to hear the story, and of the powerful vocation that doulas have!

lauren and james {florida vintage wedding photography, florida vintage engagement session}

lauren found us on the oh-so-awesome wedding chicks blog, and knew she’d found the right photographers (or we prayed she knew!) when she told us about her vintage Florida wedding plans. we so totally can’t wait till next spring… especially now that we’ve met her photographer self (check out her vintage mamiya – i tried not to drool on it) and james’ musician self (visit his band The Nine Volts here!). thank you guys so much for being brave, for bringing awesome props, and just making our evening FUN!

lauren, you make the most adorable faces. we went home talking about how fun it will be to see you as a bride and capture all those great expressions! i couldn’t believe when i opened up your images and both hubby and i captured this look! when you two make each other smile it is. just. cool. defined.

i’ve no idea why but our oldest son loves shooting e-sessions with us. you’ll see a couple of his images here in this post… this image was his vision!

special thanks to the st. petersburg shuffleboard club. we adore this place, and ever since we gave shuffleboard a try with friends on a Friday night, we’ve had big visions for some cool sessions here. you guys were awesome hosts and the club is one of the coolest places in St. Pete!

tiffany is our neighbor, and a mom with a love for girly things as great as her little girl’s! she wasn’t able to be at the session, so i’m super excited to share a few images of her adorable babies! enjoy, mom and dad! (you guys did a great job – i love these! )

she’s making her grumpy face here on purpose, i promise!

usually i have a strong preference for color or black and white, but i think i love these equally.

sweet baby-brother! i love this image because it was at the very end of the session, and while i was shooting away with his big sister, anna had picked up this little guy to snuggle. i want to eat him for dessert. (man, i’ve gotta quit admitting that…)

crazy story… julie and i “met” at a Christian retreat and hit it off on the spot. as we talked, we realized first, that we went to the same college. then, that it was at the same time. oh, no way… we knew each other! i remember meeting her through a fellow member of our traveling theatre troupe. i thought she was adorable! guess what? she still is. she’s now a phenomenal counselor, specializing in children’s counseling. as a mom of five myself, i value her for her wisdom and sensitivity toward children and families. these are a little peek into her headshot session to help clients get to know her better through her website. (yep, that’s clickable!)

this one makes me giggle, because i asked her to “rest her arm” on a patch of long grasses… didn’t she make it look genuine?

thank you for being such an example to me of a woman who knows who she is in her Maker’s world. and for being so beautiful! oh, and, happy birthday!

it’s no secret that i’m smitten with kylie. she and her big brother and sister (well, okay, and mom and dad!) are my dream models. their love for each other shines through in each of their sessions, and they’re willing to put up with crazy miss angela to get their memorable images. this session commemorates baby sister’s one year birthday, and as usual, she spoiled me rotten with her dramatic expressions, her heart-stopping gaze, and of course, her attentive family.

truly, i can’t take it.

baby-girl, your family adores you… and what an awesome family they are.

mommy didn’t plan to get “caught” on this session, but i couldn’t help myself.

…and the smash-the-cake. seriously love the delicate little handling of her cupcake. it was, i’m pretty sure, her first taste of junk food. (tainted by miss angela – i’m sorry!) she ate like such a lil’ lady… even covered in frosting! (*special note for all the mommas – this adorable ensemble was created by my friend alicia of too too precious. visit her facebook page for ordering info!)

mike and victoria {tampa bay maternity photography}

mike is a fabulous DJ we had the privelege to work with at several weddings, where we grew to respect and really like him and his beautiful wife, victoria. when they shared with us during a reception that they were expecting their first lil’ one, we giggled and danced with them… and then even more so when they asked us to do their maternity session. (okay, angela giggled and danced…)

anywhoo, when victoria agreed to be brave and creative and play with us on the beach, anna and i couldn’t wait.

when we say, “loving legacy,” we mean not just yours, but ours, too. as homeschool parents, we consider our family business to be part of our kids’ education. you’ll often find one of our own to be assisting us… they’re learning photographic art and technique alongside their parents, and we’d be thrilled if someday they take us over.

i’m so spoiled to get to “work” with clients like this, and with my tiny little girl, who doesn’t just help me, but is developing a creative voice all her own, with growing technical skills to match. pretty soon, i’ll be assisting her. can’t wait!

i’m proud to be your mama, sweet girl. it’s an honor to work alongside you.

and one more momma-word: our girl doesn’t just stand over my shoulder. these images are her own composition and even posing… all manual exposure on our professional equipment.

Steph and Josh {Palmetto Club Fishhawk Ranch Wedding}

from our first coffe-date with steph and her equally-beautiful mom, we knew we were hooked on her. actually, we had those feelings about her even at our beloved john-and-the-other-stephanie ‘s wedding, and were just super awed that she felt it too, and chose US to spend her wedding day with her! we didn’t get to meet josh until those getting-ready-minutes leading up to their ceremony (he lives in Chicago!), but it was instant “i like you.” (you picked well, steph!) and umm, hello, you made our job ridiculously easy! so many faves, we’re going to have to share in pieces. first, the “anticipation” moments…

the ladies’ powder room at Palmetto Club is so beautiful, we’d decided with steph before the wedding that we wanted to capture some images there. i love her expression when i said, “look serious, steph.”

the gift exchange. these moments were so precious; bride and groom sent their gifts via their moms. the tenderness of their thoughts toward each other stole my heart. josh gave steph STUNNING diamond earrings, but sent that message that he knew she had dangly earrings to wear, and he didn’t expect her to wear them. which is exactly what she almost did, to honor her groom. next, she gifted him with a super-awesome watch. which came with instructions that he didn’t have to wear it. and he did!
